As an automation and control theory group, we have experienced in several fields such as computational intelligence, intelligent control, computational learning, machine learning, fuzzy systems, neural networks, optimization, modeling, prediction, control, and big data analysis.

Recently, we have met an international group of environmental health engineering. This group studied the impact of climate change on water quality. Part of this research has been published in https://doi.org/10.1016/j.scs.2019.101904.

Any climate change study that incorporates hydrological modeling is bound to possess uncertainty in the results. Now, the automation and control theory group in ISR-UC is interested in improving the water quality modeling by applying computational intelligence techniques.

We are looking for international research institutes and scientific organizations that are experts in climate change, environmental issues, water quality modeling, and computational intelligence system.
The Institute of Systems and Robotics - the University of Coimbra (ISR-UC) is a Portuguese institution dedicated to research in the field of robotics and automation. ISR was created for the global purpose of setting up a first-class multidisciplinary research team, able to carry out leading-edge research in several key areas of science and technology, with a special emphasis on automation and robotics. ISR-Coimbra has three groups featuring strong synergies between them: Automation and Robotics which is the core group, Control Theory and Operations Management.

The scientific objectives of the Control Theory Group can be described as follows: to develop fundamental research in the area of systems, modeling, and control; to establish an appropriate environment for creating interactions with scientists from engineering and other sciences and conduct interdisciplinary research; to develop special programs in control theory, enabling students from mathematics and engineering to obtain interdisciplinary training for working in control and its applications and to increase national and international collaboration with leading institutes and prominent researchers.
