ILVO (Technology and Food Science Unit) is the last years active in the One Health Field. We have several PhD and other research projects going on regarding antibiotics in manure, soil, surface water, ground water and plants. Our unit have chemical and microbiological ISO17025 accreditated laboratories. We are experienced in both detecting and quantifying veterinary antibiotic residues in water by means of LC-MS/MS and determining antibiotic resistance in water samples and bacteria. We perform this via non-culture (metabarcoding or qPCR) and culture methods (indicator organisms or pathogens).
The Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (ILVO) performs multidisciplinary, innovative and independent research aimed at economically, ecologically and socially sustainable agriculture and fisheries. It is a knowledge institution of the Flemish government belonging to the Agriculture and Fisheries policy area. More than 600 ILVO employees work in 4 domains; Plant Sciences, Animal Sciences, Technology and Food Science, and Social Sciences and each unit is further subdivided into research areas.
