Increasing the acceptance of recycled plastics in everyday life is an important issue of the circular economy. By means of a raft built from recycled material, we are trying to sensitize people in urban and rural areas along the river to this topic. On the other hand the project wants to achieve the data situation on emergent pollutants, trace substances, nitrate pollution and heat exchange processes in an important inland waterway (River Elbe). We are interested in a long-term exchange of information regarding public relations work in the field of environmental education as well as an exchange of measurement data for the emergent pollutants of running waters.
The scientists involved are employees of the TU Dresden at different institutes:
Institute for Water Chemistry: Sampling of the River Elbe along the course for a trace substance analysis by LC/MS within the project AQUAVIET
Institute for Groundwater Management: Taking water samples (small quantities), precipitation measurements, use of multi-parameter measuring probe for in-situ measurements
Institute for Hydro-Meteorology: Use of a 3D-ultrasonic Doppler measuring device for the investigation of heat exchange processes flux/environment
Institute for Urban Water Management: punctual measurements of nitrate sources (from agricultural/wastewater plants)
