Theme 2 - Evaluating
Our Laboratory of toxicology Microbiology and Environmental health (TMES) which located at the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax. University of Sfax. Tunisia is implicated in different projects PRIMA, H2020,TUNGER,…. The laboratory is formed by two research groups; (i) Environmental microbiology and (ii) Environmental Toxicology and Health
We offer our expertise in the following fields:
1. Detection and characterization the spread of emerging pollutants and pathogens related to antimicrobial resistance from the different sources (e.g. urban areas), using new technologies (PCR, Real time PCR, Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis, Sequencing, MLST)
2. Toxicity measurements of xenobiotics (pesticides, nanoparticles, heavy metals, …) on human cell lines in mammalian cell culture and on animal models. We are able to investigate molecular mechanisms for the action of such molecules using molecular techniques (Western bloting, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, behavioral tests,…)
University of Sfax (U-SFAX, http://univ-sfax.tn) is Tunisian’s second largest university and one of the most prestigious teaching and research institutions in the country: 31.000 students. The University of sfax has been involved as coordinator and partner in numerous EU-funded projects under various programs including Tempus (22 projects), Erasmus Mundus (8 projects), Erasmus + KA2 (13 projects), Erasmus + KA1 (30 projects) and Η2020 (3 project).
